Audio Electronics Design Engineer (Mid-Level)

Job Description:

Samson Technologies is a leading audio electronics brand based in Hicksville, NY.
The audio electronics design engineer is responsible for development, testing, and documentation of Samson and Hartke products including wireless transmitters, wireless receivers, bass amplifiers, PA speakers, USB microphones, and more.
Technologies include Class D amplifiers, linear/switching power supplies, mixed signal devices (analog signal processing and DSP), speakers, and li-ion batteries.

A strong candidate is eager to learn, self-motivated, curious, able to manage simultaneous projects, and able to deliver positive results under time/budget constraints. An interest in music and audio is an added plus.

  • Full time on-site position
  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Office environment with occasional travel as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent degree.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of audio specifications such as frequency response, SNR, dynamic range, THD+N, gain, etc.
  • Strong understanding of test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, real-time analyzers, etc.
  • Strong understanding of concepts such as decibels, RMS, peak voltage, wattage, etc.
  • Comfortable with hand-soldering through-hole and surface mount components.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow datasheets.
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot electrical schematics.
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot PCB designs.
  • 3% international travel. Must be willing and able to travel to Asia one to three times per year.
  • Ability to commute or relocate to Hicksville, NY 11801.

Not required, but strong qualifications include:

  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout for low-noise audio design. Software-agnostic, but DipTrace and Altium are common.
  • Experience with TINA-TI or other SPICE simulators.
  • Experience with Audio Precision test and measurement equipment.
  • Working knowledge of digital audio workstations (Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, Reaper, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS devices.
  • Ability to develop firmware (C/C++) and adhere to USB standards.
  • Experience in mobile app development
