Highlights

  • Rich, Smooth Sound

The CL7a is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed for the studio environment. Inside the CL7a capsule is a 1.1" gold-sputtered, 3-micron thick diaphragm that delivers a beautifully rich, balanced sound. Smooth mids and slight highs rise around 15kHz to create a natural sound that provides acoustic ambience when used on instruments and "breathing room" when used on vocals.

    Love in the Studio

The cardioid pickup pattern enhances isolation during recording, minimizing the sound picked up from other audio sources behind the CL7a microphone. This makes the microphone ideal for both studio and live applications. A selectable bipolar high-pass filter at 100 Hz removes unwanted low-frequency content such as stage rumble or wind noise.

  • Capture Loud & Proud

The rugged capsule and electronics can withstand high SPLs up to 147 dB, allowing you to capture powerful low-frequency content without distortion. The CL7a includes a 10 dB pad that prevents overloading of the on-board preamplifier by reducing the input sensitivity of the microphone preamplifier circuit. This is useful when miking loud sources with very high transients, such as drums, cymbals, or brass instruments.

    Built to Last

Inside the rugged die-cast body is an internal shock mount that provides both capsule protection and vibration isolation. The CL7a is a condenser microphone and must be powered by phantom power. The CL7a accepts phantom power from 36 to 52 volts.
